Bone Graft

Bone grafting particulate material is usually bovine in origin, sometimes synthetic bone grafting material is used. This is to augment the implant site or to be inserted in sinuses to create the bone needed for subsequent implant placement.

Usually a membrane made of swine tissues is used to cover any bone grafting material, bovine membranes are also available in the market.

In some cases when the bone defect is large a bone block harvested from the chin area (inside the mouth) or from the area behind wisdom teeth is used to augment the implant site prior to implant insertion.
