Trick or Treat?

30 / 10 / 2020

It is that time of year again!! If you are anything like me and cannot resist the temptation of a sweet ‘treat’ (especially on Halloween), read on because this is for you!

Here at Crook Log Dental Practice we understand how hard it is to maintain a sugar – free diet. Let’s be real, we all love a cheeky chocolate bar every now and again – even dentists! Its ok to indulge occasionally, even though sugar is the enemy to, it is harmless in moderation, IF you do not forget to look after your teeth afterwards.

So, here are some oral health tips to help you maintain those pearly whites and keep those cavities away this Halloween!

1- Brush your teeth twice a day using fluoride toothpaste

2- Wait at least 20 mins after eating sugary foods to brush teeth; scrubbing teeth straight after an acid attack only weakens the enamel more. Wait for the minerals to redeposit on the enamel
and then clean with a fluoride toothpaste

3- Drink water after eating sweets – and swish around your mouth before swallowing, this neutralizes the sugary acid that attacks the enamel

4- Timing is everything – combine the sweet treat after a meal, avoid eating anything sweet before bed

5- Visit our teeth heroes – the dentist for a checkup every 6 – 9 months! – even if you think you have no issues, prevention is better than cure

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL OUR LOVELY PATIENTS!
