Crook Log Dental Practice is honored to be selected as a Foundation Year Training practice, and is responsible for the training of newly qualified dentists.

All our clinical team members are registered with the General Dental Council and keep their knowledge up to date by attending the latest courses/conferences.
All of our dental nurses have a nationally recognised qualification or are undergoing training at college. Our staff are regularly trained and committed to making your visit as pleasant as possible.
Dr Baber KHAN
BDS (Lond) MFGDP RCS (UK) Dip Rest Dent RCS (Eng)
Baber qualified from Barts and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2005.
He is the co-owner of Crook Log Dental Practice in Bexleyheath where he has been working since 2007. The same year he was awarded the Ruby Austin Award for Best Case Presentation at the end of his Foundation Year training.
The following year he gained his MFGDP qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Certificate in Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry. He has been a registered member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the Royal College of Surgeons of England since.
In 2012 Baber was accepted as a Foundation Year Trainer, a prestigious position where he was responsible for the in-house training of newly qualified dentists, a position he held until 2019.
Over the years he has had the privilege of training highly successful dentists, winning the Best Case Presentation South East London three years running (2017-2019) and the Royal College of Surgeons Foundation Dentist of the Year Award the last two years running (2017 & 2018).
In 2013 he completed his Diploma in Restorative Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons and was selected as the Dentsply Gold Medal winner for his cohort.
The following year he was shortlisted as a Finalist for the Best Young Dentist award held by the prestigious Dentistry Awards.
In 2017 he completed his Master of Science degree in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Leeds.
He became the Principal dentist of Dartford Road Dental Centre in 2018, a sister practice to Crook Log Dental Practice, providing Cosmetic private dental care.
He has a special interest in advanced Restorative and Cosmetic dentistry. Through his extensive postgraduate training he has honed his skills to provide a specialist level of care to his patients.
In his spare time Baber enjoys travelling, reading and spending time with his young family.

Dr Semina YOUNIS
BDS (Hons) MFGDP RCS UK MSc AGDP Kings College London
Semina qualified with honours from Barts and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2005. She gained her MFGDP qualification in 2007 and joined Crook Log Dental Practice in 2009. She gained her certificate in Aesthetic Dentistry in 2007.
Her main interests lie in minimally invasive restorative dentistry and cosmetic orthodontics, using clear orthodontic aligners, Inman aligners and fixed braces. She has been an avid promoter of postgraduate dental education and has recently completed a Masters in Science programme at King’s College London.
Semina enjoys promoting team training at the practice and has arranged several educational courses for all members of the practice.
Availability: Tuesdays and Fridays.
Dr Wassim CHAWICH
DDS, IQE, MFDS RCS Eng, MClinDent in Prosthodontics, MRD RCS Eng
Wassim graduated in 1993. He then worked in various hospitals and dental practices. His experience in the UK included a Senior House Officer and then a Staff Grade jobs in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery departments.
He became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and then obtained a Certificate in Surgical & Prosthodontic Implantology from the Eastman Dental Institute – UCL.
In 2012 Wassim completed a specialist training programme in Prosthodontics at the Eastman Dental Institute – UCL, at the end of this four-year part-time course Wassim obtained a Master of Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics and a Membership in Restorative Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Wassim is currently registered on the General Dental Council Specialist List as a Prosthodontist Specialist.
As a Prosthodontist Specialist Wassim provides simple and complex prosthodontic treatment including full mouth reconstruction, cosmetic dentistry and removable prostheses and has a special interest in Oral Surgery. Wassim accepts referrals for prosthodontic assessment and treatment and for implants including all their related surgical procedures including: Sinus Lifts, Block Grafts, Soft Tissue Grafts and lower jaw nerve repositioning.
He regularly carries out sedation (oral and intravenous) to treat nervous patients.
Availability: 2 Saturdays a month.
Dr Jigna JOSHI
BDS (IQE) India
Jigna joined Crook Log Dental Practice in 2008 after gaining her IQE qualifications in 2007. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and has a special interest in paedodontics (treating children).
Jigna is currently studying at the Royal College of Surgeons for her Diploma in Restorative Dentistry.
Availability: Fridays and alternative Saturdays.
Dr Nic Meixner
MFDS RCS Edin
Dr Meixner graduated from King’s College London University Dental School (UK), joining Crook Log Dental Practice in 2013. In 2014 he took time out to work in the Oral and Maxillofacial department of Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals, where he performed oral surgery and managed trauma patients in the Accident and Emergency department, before returning to the practice.
Dr Meixner creates a professional yet relaxed atmosphere in which patients’ feel comfortable and able to discuss any questions before, during and after treatment. He has an active interest in history and enjoys going to the many cultural events of London.
Dr Meixner began his professional dental career in 2013 at the Crook Log Dental Practice, shortly after graduating from King’s College London University Dental School (UK). In 2014 he began employment in the Oral and Maxillofacial departments of Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals. Here, he performed oral surgeries and managed trauma patients in the Accident and Emergency department. Having developed his Oral Surgery skills, he returned to Crook Log Dental Practice in 2015.
Dedicated to providing the highest level of care to his patients, Dr Meixner is committed to enhancing his knowledge and skills: last year he completed the Postgraduate Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MFDS RCS Edin). He aims to be as flexible and available as possible, by providing regular evening and weekend appointments, as well as daily emergency slots.
Dr Meixner endeavours to create a professional yet relaxed atmosphere for his patients and is on hand to answer any questions whether it be before, during or after treatment. Patient comfort is his priority.
Aside from dentistry, he has an active interest in history and enjoys all of the many cultural events that London has to offer.

Dr Claire Louise Culverwell
GDC No 185352
Dr Culverwell qualified as a dentist from King’s College London in 2016 but has worked in dentistry since 2005, first training as a dental nurse and working her way up to be a dental hygienist/therapist before deciding to train as a dentist.
During her training, Claire gained many awards and acclamations including:

2009 – Oral B award for highest mark in clinical skills
2016 – Koran Feray Prize for highest mark in end of year Case Presentation
2017 – NHS Health Education England award for best Case Presentation
2017 – National Foundation Dentist of the Year (Royal College of Surgeons)
Claire is passionate about dentistry and strives to provide the very best of care for her patients. She provides all aspects of general dentistry and advanced facial aesthetics, and has an interest in complex periodontal cases. Claire also has a wealth of experience in treating those patients with dental anxiety.
Dr Culverwell works at Crook Log Practice full time and has appointments available all week including evenings and weekends.
Availability: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays (2 Thursday late night and 2 Saturdays) for private clinics only.
Dr Simrath Singh Mangat
Dr Mangat, known to his patients as Sim, Graduated from the Kings College London Dental institute. Prior to this, he held a Masters of Pharmacy degree with Honours from the Kings College London Institute of Pharmacy.
Since graduating, he completed his Foundation training at Crook Log Dental Practice. During this year Health Education England awarded him with the Best Case Presentation award for the South East London deanery. After this, he also won the Best Foundation Dentist national award from the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (Royal College of Surgeons).
Dr Mangat has always believed in exceeding and developing his skills, and as such he completed a year of Core Training in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at a major trauma centre, Kings College London.
Recently, he has presented at an international dentistry conference in Berlin, on strategies to improve patient pathways for Sialolithiasis, salivary stones. As a member of the maxillofacial team, he also was 1st author on a published ePoster at BAOMS 2019 about the management of epistaxis, as well as a 2nd author on an Oral presentation on Cycling Incidents managed by the OMFS team at KCH.
Prior to this, as a undergraduate he was awarded multiple awards for his work with the Student union and research, examples included the Honorary Life Membership and Full Crowns, to name but a few. Furthermore, he has held positions in multiple national dance teams as a dancer/captain/coach, in the process securing 2 first place awards at national competitions and three 2nd place awards.
Outside of this, he is currently undertaking a course in Facial Aesthetics to be able to offer his patients a more complete aesthetic experience.
In his spare time, his hobbies include; cricket, dancing, weightlifting, cooking and hiking.

MFDS RCS Glas
Toyin graduated from the University of Manchester in 2014, with the aim of developing her clinical skills to a high standard from the onset of her career. This has led her to complete a number of competitive training and development posts in different dental hospitals and practices in the UK. She has experience treating complex cases within various dental specialties including: Restorative, Orthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Special Care Dentistry.
Toyin achieved Membership with the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons Glasgow in 2016. She has also published articles in renowned dental journals and co-authored hospital dental guidelines.
Toyin joined Crook Log Dental Practice in 2019 as a full-time dentist. She is confident providing all aspects of General Dentistry and is a qualified Invisalign GO provider. Her true strength lies in her passion for delivering exceptional patient care. Her gentle manner and friendly approach ensures even the most anxious of patients feel confident about their experience at Crook Log.

Nicola Walker, Hygienist
Dip dental hyg, Dip dent ther, UK
Nicola began her career in dentistry in 2002 as a dental nurse. In 2006 Nicola went on to qualify as a Hygiene/Therapist from Barts the Royal London University of Medicine and Dentistry gaining a Diploma in Dental Hygiene (with distinction) and a Diploma in Dental Therapy.
Nicola is keen on the study of Periodontology (the health and disease if the gums) which is also her main clinical role in the dental team.
Availability: Monday morning, afternoon and evening.
Sarah Murnane, Hygienist
Sarah qualified from Guy’s Dental Hospital in 1992. She continued to work there for two more years as Staff Hygienist, then worked within Community Dentistry.
Having been settled into General Practice for some years, she continues to further her education by attending courses and lectures to extend her duties.
Gum disease, diagnosing, and its treatment take up most of Sarah’s working day, and she equally enjoys tooth whitening using the Zoom! system.
Availability: Friday morning and afternoon.
Veronika Jakovleva, Hygienist
Veronika started her dental career in 2004 as a dental nurse and undertook the National Examination for Dental Nurses in 2006. She continued dental nursing for ten years, during which she expanded her role within the practice by obtaining qualifications in both dental radiography and oral health education. She also undertook a number of managerial responsibilities.
In 2014, Veronika continued her career to qualify as a Dental Hygienist & Therapist at Kings College, London and received an award for clinical skills and professionalism during this course.
Having joined our team in 2017, Veronika also works in NHS and private practices, treating children as well as adults for both hygiene and therapy treatments. She continues to attend courses in order to keep up to date with the latest changes in Dentistry.
Availability: Thursday evening and 2 Saturdays a month.
